This is the story of people surviving almost unendurable lives as they work as migrants in India’s brick kilns. It is about those who strive to help them, and those who do harm. It is about how ActionAid tried to understand the realities of people’s lives, and the problems of poverty, through a human rights lens. The understanding which emerges is of the depth and cunning of human and institutional relationships which keep people poor.
